This former Methodist church dates from the mid-nineteenth century and is situated in the heart of the Viking Triangle, close to Reginald’s Tower, the Medieval Museum, and Christ Church Cathedral.
Greyfriars Gallery primarily hosts exhibitions of selected artworks from the Waterford Municipal Art Collection. The collection contains over three hundred artworks by some of Ireland’s leading 20th century painters e.g. Jack B.Yeats, Paul Henry, Evie Hone, and Louis LeBrocquy, and contemporary artists such as Hughie O’Donoghue, Donald Teskey and Breda Lynch. Greyfriars Gallery occasionally hosts contemporary art, music, poetry and literature events.
With it’s excellent location, atmospheric ambiance, audio-visual technical facilities and generous wall space, Greyfriars is currently the premier venue for visual art in Waterford city.
