index.jpg 1Under the direction of Jennifer Whelan and Sandra , SOMA Contemporary’s aim is to encourage interaction between Arts Organisations/groups, artist, programs and projects with the common goal of expanding arts at ground level. They do so through the use of Outreach, Resource Sharing, Programs as well as Marketing and Communications. Based in a former sweet factory in Lombard Street, SCG is Waterford’s foremost contemporary exhibition space and houses artist studios and workshop rooms. Having been in operation for the past 6 years SOMA has hosted an array of outstanding shows, by both established and emerging artists and has become known for its high profile art exhibitions.

The foundation aims to engage both local and national audiences. Soma was founded in 2009 by Artist Paul Hallahan along with Rachel Corcoran and Waterford City Arts Officer Conor Nolan. It was previously under direction of Adrian McGrath and Jacquelyn Johnson. SOMA is a home for emerging artists and contemporary practices and its current Co-Directors are Jenna Whelan and Sandra Kelly.
