Brian McGee- Chairman
A native of Waterford, Brian’s commercial focus as international sales and marketing director coupled with his proven track record in strategic brand development and innovation will certainly be a real asset in developing the City’s Viking Triangle as one of Ireland’s leading urban cultural quarters. In his current role as Head of Market Development with The Crafts Council of Ireland he is responsible for leading and implementing the sales and marketing strategy to deliver market share growth for Irish craft which has annual revenues of circa €490 million.
Previous roles included Sales and Marketing Director for Waterford Crystal responsible for the delivery of revenue and market share growth for the brand portfolio in EMEA markets.
Native of Waterford, David worked with Phelan Prescott, KPMG coupled with 14 Years experience in Industry.
David returned to Waterford in 2002 to set up David M. Breen & Co Chartered Accountants.
He has a keen interest in rugby and is a former treasurer of Waterpark RFC here in Waterford. David previously served on the Finance Committee of the Waterford Tall Ships Festival.
Louise is the CEO and founder of Q1 Scientific which was launched in 2013 to provide a world-class environmentally controlled storage facility servicing the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
Prior to Q1 Scientific, Louise was the founder and managing director of Nutri Science Ltd. which develops nutraceuticals for the veterinary healthcare market. Nutri Science was a former winner of the Irish Exporters Award with exports throughout Europe.
Louise holds honours BSc in Nutrition, a Master’s Degree in Business Studies (International Marketing) and is a graduate of the Irish Marketing Institute.
As well as her own business ventures, Louise is involved as an adviser to start-up companies on business development and marketing, has developed the Irish Business Role Models teaching program for 3rd level education in association with Enterprise Ireland and is a former member of the Board of the Irish Exporters Association.
She was appointed Ambassador for Waterford in 2011 to promote business activities and enterprise in the region and is a founding member of the FUSE Investor Group, a business angel’s investment group investing in businesses in the South East region.
Head of The Department of Architecture at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT); past council member of the European Association of Architectural Education and a registered architect with the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland. Between 1986 and 1995 Máire worked with world renowned architect Renzo Piano in his Paris office on award winning international projects.
In recent years she has been responsible for the first professionally accredited degree in architecture outside of Dublin at WIT and for setting up The Department of Architecture in Waterford City Centre in the old Granary building. Máire is a director with award winning architects dhbArchitects ltd. The firm has been short –listed at the 2010 & 2011 World Festival of Architecture.
Desmond O’ Toole
A Chartered Surveyor and recently retired as valuation Partner of O’ Shea O’ Toole & Partners, a Waterford based Property Consultants & Chartered Surveyors. He is a former President of the Chamber of Commerce and has been involved in a range of urban studies and development in the Waterford sub-region over the past 35 years.
He has a special interest in the SME sector and is chairman of a number of SME companies including Arigna Fuels Ltd, the Collins Mc Nicholas Recruitment and HR Services Group and Certification Europe Ltd. He is an advisor to Kernel Capital and is chairman of the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund managed by Kernel Capital. Padraic White is chairman of the of the UTV Group’s Dublin radio station Q102FM and was a founder member of the station. He is a Board member of UTV Ireland which intends to launch a new national television service early in 2015. He is a director of a number of financial service companies.
His public and community interests include chairmanship of the Louth Economic Forum, Coolock Development Council Ltd, Leitrim Recreation Strategy Forum and membership of the Board of Trustees of the Waterford Viking Triangle.
He is a former Managing Director of the Industrial Development Authority of Ireland (IDA –Ireland) and was the inaugural Chairman of the Railway Procurement Agency [2002-2007] which was responsible for the construction, launch and operation of the LUAS light rail services in Dublin. He is a member of the Institute of Directors [IOD] and holds the IOD Certificate in Company Direction.
Michaels background is one of engineering and he graduated from UCC in 1983 with an Engineering degree. He started his career in Local Government with Waterford County Council in 1983 and worked between there and Limerick City Council for a number of years at various engineering posts until 2000 when he came to Waterford City Council as Senior Executive Engineer.
From there he progressed to the post of Director of Services for Planning & Environment and following restructuring in 2006 he became Director of Services for Planning, Culture & HR and currently is Waterford City Manager. As Manager, Michael is a Director of Waterford Regional Airport, Waterford City Enterprise Board, Waterford Museum of Treasures and a member of the City Development Board. Michael is also a member of the Land Use and Transportation sub committee of the County and City Managers Association.
