1848The 1848 Tricolour Celebration is a cultural and historical event, which commemorates the first unveiling of the Irish Tricolour flag by Thomas Francis Meagher at 33 the Mall in Waterford city.

“The white in the centre signifies a lasting truce between the “orange” and the “green” and I trust that beneath its folds, the hands of the Irish Protestant and the Irish Catholic may be clasped in generous and heroic brotherhood”.

This year’s celebration will take place between the 6th and 8th of March 2015. The highlight of the annual event is the official military flag raising ceremony, which will take place Sunday the 8th of March.
