Fishamble – Directing New Plays
Directing New Plays is to be led by Fishamble’s Artistic Director, Jim Culleton. No previous directing experience necessary, only an interest in theatre and in directing required, no acting experience required although participants will be expected to take part as actors in the workshop. The workshop is open to all so if you are a theatre practitioner you are invited to attend.
Jim Culleton will explore the role of the director, focussing on new plays. Through a mixture of theatre exercises, discussion and text analysis, Jim will look at how the director works with actors and playwrights to create a piece of theatre which engages as powerfully as possible with an audience. The main play explored will be Underneath by Pat Kinevane.
