Waterford Viking Marathon
The Waterford Viking Marathon started in 2012 and prides itself on being the South East’s most friendly marathon. The 26.2 miles takes a relatively flat route that travels through the beautiful city and county of Waterford with the opportunity to enjoy many of the famous tourist attractions. With full marathon, half marathon and relay options there is something for runners of all levels.
Many friends, family and colleagues from abroad come home and take part in the marathon with a special prize for fastest overseas runner. In 2013, over 2000 participants travelled from Europe, Australia, the US and from all corners of Ireland to gathered at the start line. Many walkers and runners also take part in the Viking Marathon in order to raise money for local charities. In the 2013 Viking Marathon, over 250 people from Tramore and the surrounding areas, raised over €30,000 for the local Ryan and Ethan Appeal. The Waterford Viking Marathon finish line is a great family fun event in the RSC with music from local bands and other fun entertainment to enjoy.
