The second year students from the “Interior Design and Decoration” class from the Waterford Adult Education Centre (WAEC) are holding an Interior Design Exhibition entitled “Out of the Shadows” from Tuesday 10th March until Thursday 12th March 2015 in the Index Gallery, Waterford Central Library. The exhibition will be officially opened by the Mayor of Waterford Metropolitan District, Cllr. Lola O’Sullivan at 2.30pm on Tuesday 10th March.
The exhibition is planned and organised by the students to showcase their work over a two year period from the Interior Design and Decoration Course, providing an opportunity for family, friends and the general public to view their work in areas such as combined materials, mosaic, up-cycling, glassware, ceramics, print-making, batik and architectural drawing. It provides a valuable learning tool for students to organise and hold an exhibition as a class, which is a mandatory requirement for the work experience module. The pieces on display in the Index Gallery allows the students to express their inner thoughts or feelings and release the light of their natural hidden talents from the shadows that may have been lying dormant within themselves for many years, hence the name “Out of the Shadows”.
