New Street Garden Project: this project is about bringing greenery and life back into a vacant and disused space in Waterford City. This is a community based initiative and as such, a non for profit venture. It is creating a gathering point for locals and visitors to show off the best in music, art, theatre, film, design, sculpture, sport and much more. Various scheduled free events and many pop up events will be seen throughout the summer months.
This project has been about encouraging people living and working in the area, local schools, community, horticultural and arts groups to get involved at different stages of the garden build. This sense of ownership helps to generate positivity and pride within the community, the city and its inhabitants. An added bonus is that the project created a more positive profile of Waterford as a city.
