Lismore Music Festival
The Lismore Music Festival is Ireland’s only Summer Opera/Classical Music Festival and takes place each June Bank Holiday weekend in the stunning surroundings of Lismore Castle, Gardens and in beautiful properties along the Blackwater River.
The Lismore Music Festival 2014 presents two performances of an original production of one of the most beloved works in the operatic repertoire. Directed by Dieter Kaegi and Conducted by Marco Zambelli, Mozart’s Magic Flute is arguably one of the greatest and most popular operas ever written. It is the magical tale of Prince Tamino and bird-catcher Papageno’s quest to rescue Princess Pamina. On the way they meet magical creatures and face extraordinary challenges on an adventure that takes us to the heart of one man’s search for love and his struggle to find truth.
Our original production of The Magic Flute is with a reduced orchestration and will be sung in English.
The festival will also dedicate it’s Dress Rehearsal to local school children as part of it’s Schools Education & Audience Development Programme with the generous support and assistance of the David Ross Foundation & Giancarla and Michael Alen Buckley.
