New Music Week
The theme of the New Music Week festival is ‘new music – new audiences’ and new work from over 30 composers will be performed by over 100 musicians. New Music Week Waterford has been exposing unsuspecting ears and minds to the new, the different and the infrequently heard for the last 14 years. Each year the festival has reached diverse audiences of all ages, interests & musical experience.
The festival is co-presented by the Department of Creative & Performing Arts, WIT and Garter Lane Arts Centre, with support from the Arts Council and Waterford City Council. 2013 festival partners include RTÉ Lyricfm, the Contemporary Music Centre, Theatre Royal, Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford City Council Library Service, Access Cinema and the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.
So sit on a couch in the Central Library and listen to clarinet and cello, enjoy Buster Keaton on screen in Garter Lane, or let a 16 piece Big Band fill your every sense in the Theatre Royal. All festival daytime events are FREE. Enjoy this festival and be part of a new audience for new music.
