Fine Art Print Maker
Anne McDonnell studied Fine Art printmaking in Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland.
Her work is sensory and organic, her work on each plate with her hands, slicing, drizzling each one with bitumen to create images with veiled depths. Through her printwork, she explores the metamorphosis of nature, capturing its transient beauty with copper and ink.
Anne’s signature use of black and white gives each piece a dramatic feel but also hints at a darker edge of languorous decay.
Anne McDonnell chose printmaking as an art form because she was intrigued by the possibilities of the different processes, and because her style of drawing suited the medium. Through her printwork, Anne tries to capture the essence of Ireland’s landscape and Irish wildflowers in copper and ink.
Anne creates original hand printed etchings and dry points of images of Ireland and Anne is constantly adding to her collections. Her heritage collection includes a collection of depicting areas of interest from around Ireland.
